We have won many awards for our education offering, but it is essential that we continually develop and improve.
Our plans are based on extensive research and consultation with schools and education professionals, as well as education consultants. We have been working with other science and conservation centres to learn from them and share best practice.
We asked children what they would like to learn about and how they like to learn. The importance of child input into the process has been vital as we recognise the need for self-directed learning and tailoring education to all learning types and abilities.
We have piloted workshops with schools to ensure we are on track. This has fed into our plans.
These are examples of some of the scribble sheets that we used to capture essential information.
We have surveyed and spoken directly with teachers to find out how we can improve and how we can support them in the best ways possible. From this we know that we need to increase the size of the current education centre (we often have to turn school groups away), improve our facilities, increase our online resources and get out to schools that are unable to visit North Berwick. This is exactly what we plan to do.
